| After a six year hiatus after the end of the series, "The X-Files" returned to the big screen with a second feature film in July 2008. While the film is within the established continuity, its connections to the overall mythology are less obvious. With a more stand-alone plot and such a long tenure out of the public consciousness, Chris Carter (both writer and director) had his work cut out for him. Was this attempt to reboot the franchise a sleeper success or well-intentioned failure? |
