"Smallville" seems to be the source of much delight and frustration for its fans. On the one hand, it is
the successful and, sometimes, superior heir to the story attempted in "Roswell", with a more iconic
central character. For others, it is a series with an inconsistent and seriously flawed continuity.
In the end, what matters is the series' staying power. Now facing its eighth and possibly final season,
ratings continue to stay strong, even against much stronger competition and the effects of several
casting changes. Reviews began with the beginning of the fifth season. Reviews and commentary will
