"Smallville" seems to be the source of much delight and frustration for its fans. On the one hand, it is
the successful and, sometimes, superior heir to the story attempted in "Roswell", with a more iconic
central character. For others, it is a series with an inconsistent and seriously flawed continuity. This
has only become more pronounced in recent seasons, though recent years have proven more inventive
and energetic.
In the end, what matters is the series' staying power. Now facing its ninth and possibly final season,
ratings continue to stay strong, even against much stronger competition, the effects of several casting
changes, and a new night. Reviews began with the beginning of the fifth season. Reviews and
commentary have been posted to the Smallville Review Blog beginning with the sixth season in
September 2006, and will continue throughout the tenth and final season.
