Having established himself as a force to be reckoned with by taking "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and
turning it into a franchise, Joss Whedon decided it was time to stake out wider territory.

Wider, as in "deep space".

This is a distinctly Mutant Enemy version of the future, apparently devoid of aliens (or demons, for
that matter). These are human beings dealing with human problems, in the grand tradition of strong
characterization that has come to be Whedon's hallmark.

Beginning with the series premiere in September 2002, the episodes were reviewed on a
semi-timely basis. That didn't take long, considering how quickly FOX drove the series into the
ground...but the eventual release of the DVDs will provide a chance to finish reviewing the unaired
episodes.  The reviews for the episodes on DVD are scheduled to end just in time for the feature
film, "Serenity", to open on September 30, 2005!
