After two seasons of bad writing choices and a lack of direction, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga
decided to try a tactic that had been proven by several genre series in recent memory: a season-long
plot arc matched with permanent changes to the main characters. Flawed at the beginning, the third
season gained strength with the addition of executive producer Manny Coto.
Alas, it was not enough to save the series from cancellation at the end of the fourth season. The
reviews on this site are therefore a testimony to the highs and lows of the series that marked the end of
modern Trek on television. It's quite likely that Trek will not return to television (or film, for that matter)
before the current Berman regime is replaced with fresh blood.
